MINKPINK

Brand Watch: Minkpink

Who doesn't love floaty florals and bright patterns for summer. This rising brand is increasingly cornering the laid back market, with affordable prices, (and a 10% discount in ASOS for students) what is not to love. Now rising up in the fashion stakes, with fans in the form of Cara Delivingne and Miley Cyrus, this small brand is getting a lot of notice.

Micro Trend: Lace trim ankle socks

This trend is seen everywhere, worn girly with heels or grunge with dr martens, these socks are incredibly y popular. The style was seen all over Tumblr and now has been taken up by some the biggest high street stores, e.g Topshop, Primark etc.

Whether you love them or hate them, these are the most fashionable socks you can buy at the moment.

Topshop do a great selection of pastel and bright colours (see below) but Primark is still the best for value:

My favourite pair that I have seen have to be the ones from Bitching and Junkfood (also a great 'indie' shop) but are a lot more expensive.

Celebs are also jumping on the bandwagon:

A few fashion finds

This week I thought I'd share a few of my favourite independent brands with you. I love finding these small, unknown stores as they are usually reasonably priced and homemade, meaning that you always end up with a completely unique item that no-one else has. A couple of the best places to find a collection of these brands are Etsy and Big Cartel.

I love 'Be Street' for incredible Ian MacCarthur prints on t-shirts on jumpers (see below). I recently discovered his intricate designs and think they work so well with the simple cut of the clothing.

For jewellery and accessories, try Regal Rose. They are constantly bringing out new, bang on trend jewellery. You will probably see their designs all over magazines and its worn by celebrities like Pixie Lott but the actual brand is relatively unknown.

Yayer.com offers fashionable vintage and modern clothing for really reasonable prices. Its really a cheaper, more flattering Urban outfitters. I only discovered it the other day and already have a long list of must-haves.  They have a really great selection of shirts and loads of little details, like cut out sides on dresses. I would say that it is more than worth taking a look through, unfortunately because they are small the most popular designs sell out quickly.

Style steal: American Apparel Disco Pants

The American Apparel Disco pants are definitely on my list of 'want-but-can't-have', they are great but 70 pounds is a bit steep. I have found a couple of pairs for over half the price!

Enjoy x

Glamourous Uk offer alternatives at over half the price (29.99) and unless you see the label you will not be able to tell the difference. Although the range of colours is limited, the two most popular colours black and pewter are available, along with gold and navy.
I especially love the black as they are slimming and go with everything ( Camera Fund have a really cool selection of unique homemade crop tops that would look great with these)

My Five Fav Maxis (Number 1)

Maxi skirts can be dressed up or down. It takes a bit of confidence to wear a maxi but when pulled off, look really chic. The aim of a maxi is to accentuate your waist and make you look taller.
I personally love Maxis (when I find them long enough) and as long as you get a flattering style and cut then they look so elegant. To try and add a bit of an edge to Maxis, I pair them with boots or studded shoes and a leather biker jacket.

Anyway, here is the first of my five fav Maxis.

Enjoy

Chiffon Maxi Skirts:

The black chiffon Maxi Skirt is found almost everywhere, river island, dorothy perkins. I especially like the split up the side in the one from river island though.
You can buy it with the underskirt or simply the black chiffon skirt. If you buy just the overskirt you can choose any print to go underneath. American apparel do a lovely choice of colours, not just black but if your budget is smaller then zara, h&m or asos marketplace are the places to look.
Ebay offers the same style of skirt for less than £10 but I can't say what the quality will be like.

Miss selfridge do an amazing lilac side split maxi skirt in lilac. I have had my eye on it for ages and now its in the sale for £22 I am very tempted to snap it up! It won't last long so if you like the look of it, I would hurry before they all sell out..
