Micro Trend: Lace trim ankle socks

This trend is seen everywhere, worn girly with heels or grunge with dr martens, these socks are incredibly y popular. The style was seen all over Tumblr and now has been taken up by some the biggest high street stores, e.g Topshop, Primark etc.

Whether you love them or hate them, these are the most fashionable socks you can buy at the moment.

Topshop do a great selection of pastel and bright colours (see below) but Primark is still the best for value:

My favourite pair that I have seen have to be the ones from Bitching and Junkfood (also a great 'indie' shop) but are a lot more expensive.

Celebs are also jumping on the bandwagon:

A few fashion finds

This week I thought I'd share a few of my favourite independent brands with you. I love finding these small, unknown stores as they are usually reasonably priced and homemade, meaning that you always end up with a completely unique item that no-one else has. A couple of the best places to find a collection of these brands are Etsy and Big Cartel.

I love 'Be Street' for incredible Ian MacCarthur prints on t-shirts on jumpers (see below). I recently discovered his intricate designs and think they work so well with the simple cut of the clothing.

For jewellery and accessories, try Regal Rose. They are constantly bringing out new, bang on trend jewellery. You will probably see their designs all over magazines and its worn by celebrities like Pixie Lott but the actual brand is relatively unknown.

Yayer.com offers fashionable vintage and modern clothing for really reasonable prices. Its really a cheaper, more flattering Urban outfitters. I only discovered it the other day and already have a long list of must-haves.  They have a really great selection of shirts and loads of little details, like cut out sides on dresses. I would say that it is more than worth taking a look through, unfortunately because they are small the most popular designs sell out quickly.

Style steal: American Apparel Disco Pants

The American Apparel Disco pants are definitely on my list of 'want-but-can't-have', they are great but 70 pounds is a bit steep. I have found a couple of pairs for over half the price!

Enjoy x

American Apparel Disco Pants

Glamourous Uk offer alternatives at over half the price (29.99) and unless you see the label you will not be able to tell the difference. Although the range of colours is limited, the two most popular colours black and pewter are available, along with gold and navy.
I especially love the black as they are slimming and go with everything ( Camera Fund have a really cool selection of unique homemade crop tops that would look great with these)

My Five Fav Maxis (Number 1)

Maxi skirts can be dressed up or down. It takes a bit of confidence to wear a maxi but when pulled off, look really chic. The aim of a maxi is to accentuate your waist and make you look taller.
I personally love Maxis (when I find them long enough) and as long as you get a flattering style and cut then they look so elegant. To try and add a bit of an edge to Maxis, I pair them with boots or studded shoes and a leather biker jacket.

Anyway, here is the first of my five fav Maxis.

Enjoy

Chiffon Maxi Skirts:

The black chiffon Maxi Skirt is found almost everywhere, river island, dorothy perkins. I especially like the split up the side in the one from river island though.
You can buy it with the underskirt or simply the black chiffon skirt. If you buy just the overskirt you can choose any print to go underneath. American apparel do a lovely choice of colours, not just black but if your budget is smaller then zara, h&m or asos marketplace are the places to look.
Ebay offers the same style of skirt for less than £10 but I can't say what the quality will be like.

Miss selfridge do an amazing lilac side split maxi skirt in lilac. I have had my eye on it for ages and now its in the sale for £22 I am very tempted to snap it up! It won't last long so if you like the look of it, I would hurry before they all sell out..

Item of the Week

Spotted: My item of the week

Motel Rocks is amazing for bright vibrant prints in every style you could want. Sun dresses, bustiers, playsuits and jeans are always great quality and guaranteed to get you noticed!

This Zoe Bodycon dress is incredible, especially for £28!
I love the symetrical vibrant print and this dress is incredibly form fitting and flattering. It looks stunning paired with a pair of black heels or sandals and is an instant wardrobe update.
I would recommend this company and this product to everyone!

Camo Jacket Look

Style Steal

STYLE STEAL: Camo Jacket

The camo jacket is a massive trend, seen on celebs such as Alexa Chung and Fearne Cotton. It looks great over a lacey dress or with the wet look leggings featured in my last post.

Last time I was in Urban Outfitters, I loved their Urban Renewal Jacket, but for nearly £50 I wasn't convinced. After some searching I have discovered almost an identical jacket for £14.99!! I have since ordered from this website and the products are great value and nice quality. www.fu-kit.com supplies all kinds of camo/army jackets for a fraction of the cost.

Lovely Leggings

Leggings are basically a more comfortable alternative to jeans, and unlike most trousers come in hundreds of styles and colours at pretty reasonable prices. I am just going to show you five of my favourites x

I am absolutely in love with the ying and yang leggings, i also managed to find them for 4.99 on ebay, absolute bargain!
The black milk dollar leggings have been on my want list for ages and they recently came into stock, if you're willing to invest, they are beautiful quality and i guarantee you will get compliments wherever you go. ( I often get stopped when I wear a similar pair).

Although these topshop tie dye leggings are reasonable-ish, there are plenty of rip offs on ebay, if you just type in "tie dye leggings". They look great with a black tee, if you're into grunge.

You cannot go wrong with aztec print. It is everywhere! It looks great with a simple vest top and leather jacket or jumper combo. I love these colourful blue ones but a simple black and white pair can turn into a great wardrobe staple.

Finally wet look leggings. These are brilliant with everything and are seen on basically every fashion forward celebrity. You have to get the right fit and quality, cheap wet look leggings are not great. I love saving money but after seeing some in tesco, i have definitely been put off.. These ones from Very are a very reasonable price for this style of leggings

Enjoy x

Shorts (studded and pastel)

I'm really liking the studded shorts trend but trying to find some that aren't going to empty my bank balance but also look great. There are ways of doing this yourself, but dying denim is not easy and you might end up without your desired finished product. By having a look at alternative websites, I have found a few that have caught my eye, enjoy x

These shorts are a great way to wear the pastel trend, along with the distressed studded grunge trend, which is taking the fashion world by storm, and not bad for less than 24 pounds, etsy:

I love the subtle pocket studding and rips down the side, theses are also great  if you aren't comfortable wearing brighter colours.

If you are daring enough and willing to spend a little more, then look no further than the ragged priest vintage, these store can be found online, including ebay and asos marketplace and they are one of the best stores for unique pastel/studded shorts:

The dip dye trend is massive at the moment, moving from hair to clothing, and these shorts are perfect for everyday wear:
If you want a cheaper option, then keep an eye on ebay, as these go for around 20-25 pounds. You can buy them directly from the ragged priest for around 40, which obviously offers more choice.

These are definitely for a certain style, but if i had the money to spend on these, they would be top of my want list, this sort of design will set you back around 40 pounds:

For plenty of choice, try ebay or asos marketplace. There are hundreds of brands begging for your purchase, and depending on your love of studding you can go from barely any, to covering half your shorts:

These are an easy way to keep up with the trend but aren't too over the top. I love the fit, and they are incredibly versatile. You can pick similar shorts up from asos marketplace for around 20- 40 pounds.

And finally, a little known store for those with a larger amount to spend, Batoko is amazing for unusual and incredible studded shorts, these will set you back in excess of 50 pounds:
